Celebrating Max's Third Birthday at School

Max's birthday fell on a school day this year, so Lance, Papa, Sue-B, Sugar Maury, and I went to school to take cupcakes to Max and his classmates (we missed Da--she was at work that day).  We had so much fun!  Here are some pictures from our visit to the Preschool Place at Dor Tamid.  Everyone was really impressed with Max's bright, colorful classroom; with his energetic and warm teacher, Ms. Lisie; and with the sweet, well-behaved children in his class!  Since it was a Monday, there were only 6 students (and two of them were absent), so it was an intimate gathering :-)

Here we are being stealthy in the hallway because we were a little bit early and didn't want to interrupt.  It was hilarious spying on the kids and listening in.  We heard Max inform Lisie that his dad would grow his beard back in the fall!  He also promptly and enthusiastically answered, "a tree" when Lisie asked where apples grew :-)

Here was Max's priceless expression when we all walked in to his classroom.  He knew we were coming but was caught off guard and pleasantly surprised, nonetheless!

I love this sweet picture of my mom kneeling down to talk to Max with all of his little friends sitting aroung him eating lunch.  I think my mom looks so beautiful in this picture!

Sue-B and Max--he was so excited we were there!  Lisie told us a cute story of how she at first thought Max was saying "soupy" when he would say Sue-B.  Now she jokes with him about what kind of soup Sue-B is making on any given day--Matzo Ball, vegetable, egg drop, ha, ha!

Max and Daddy!

A cute picture of Papa saying hello to Max and of my mom giving a snuggle to a sweet little girl named Avery, who just seemed to need a hug from a mommy/grandmommy :-)

A big hello to Max from Lance when we walked in!

Max was showing Papa and Lance all of the cool bottles in the sensory station--they were filled with colorful rice grains, beans, etc.  Each one makes a different sound.

Max with Mommy and his BLUE cupcakes!  Max and I dyed white cake mix blue with **50** drops of blue food coloring!!! (according to package directions...)

I think this is a hilarious picture of my parents sitting in the tiny little chairs that they have in preschool classrooms; they are such good sports!  The kids had been making Israeli flags as part of their unit on Simchat Torah, which begins Wednesday at sundown.  Ms. Lisie said Max does NOT like to get dirty, and even with this project, if he got one dot of glue on his hand, he wanted to go wash them then start again... My OCDness has rubbed off--oy!

Max about to blow out the candles on his cupcake!

A family shot (plus Lianna!)

Max LOVED his blue cupcake, but in true un-messy fashion, he requested a utensil with which to eat it :-)  The other kids dug in face or hands first!  Fine by me--less laundry!!!
