Max and I spent the morning at the Train Museum in Buford, GA with my MOMS Club on Valentine's Day :-) We had a lot of fun and learned a lot--like how to tell the difference between a Diesel Train (square "face") and a Steam Train (round "face"). Max got to climb aboard original trains and explore the dining cars, kitchen units, sleeping cars, etc. We also got to take a ride on a real train--very cool!
Sitting atop a real train!
Working on his train craft... He learned about the different types of cargo that a train can carry. The doors of the blue cut-out train open, and then he pasted different cargo inside of them--coal, milk, lumber, animals, etc.
The lady in the green shirt is one of the museum curators. She was incredibly knowledgeable about trains--their history, their mechanics, etc. I liked that she made the knowledge accessible to and relatable to the children by using Thomas the Train characters to teach them! Here is Max in mid "chugga chugga" motion :-)
